I had (have) the old WESTELL A90-9100em rev. B wireless Router and was also not happy with the wireless signal range inside my home, so I spent the $100 (was $75 at time I got it + Tax & Shipping) on buying the Actiontec MI424WR rev. I Gig-E wireless-N Router from the Verizon FiOS Accessories Store ( https://teleproducts.verizon.com/fios/index.cfm/eh/DisplayProducts ) and IMO it's NO BETTER than the Westell, still barely get 1 Signal bar from one end of house (router placement) to the other, and sometimes will drop off completely. IMO you'll be wasting the money$ buying the MI424WR rev. I Gig-E wireless-N Router !
If you're using Verizon FiOS, which I assume you are ...
I'd try using a MoCA LAN Bridge to achieve an additional WiFi access point at another location in the house.
I'm in the middle of trying to set up something similar myself, as unfortunately the FiOS Tech I recently had
out to the house was clueless about any of this and said it couldn't be done, when in fact I know others have done it.
Some resources for you to research about it ...
