That depends. 

  • Do you have FIOS-TV?  If so, you need to keep the Actiontec to provide MOCA LAN to your STBs.  The Actiontec can be secondary to your router if you're willing to give up remote DVR control and on screen caller-id.
  • How is your router connected to the ONT?  coax or cat5?  If coax, then you need to run a cat5 cable to the ONT and call VZ to have your WAN provisioning changed from coax to cat5.
