The alarm system itself connects to the alarm control center using a cellular connection, and this feature is not related to an Internet connection. This means that your system is probably protecting the premises. From what little I know about "ADT Pulse" it appears that this aspect of the system allows the user to monitor and control various system features over the Internet using various wireless devices, in a "home automation" type mode.
You indicate that the ADT technician was unable to establish an Internet connection on your home network. However you haven't given any detailed information on exactly which home network and which equipment you have. Therefore it's not possible to make a suggestion on how to establish the Internet connection.
My guess is that there may be settings in your router that must be adjusted to accommodate the ADT Internet interface. It's also possible that the ADT pulse wants to connect wirelessly to your home network, but it cannot do so without the correct wireless settings (encryption mode, user name, password, etc.). Once again, this is mere speculation.
Unfortunately ADT is not known in the industry for good service. I am not bashing your new system, but instead relaying well known facts. An example of this "service" is the fact that the ADT technician has left you "hanging" with this problem. The issue is most likely an ADT issue (depending on your equipment, as yet unspecified). Therefore it's up to ADT to offer a solution. I can say with confidence that you are not going to get a Verizon technician on the phone or at your home who will work on this to your satisfaction. They probably won't touch it.
Aside, I just spent a few minutes trying to get technical details on the Pulse system and Internet connection from the ADT site. The results of my search were less than inspiring. Sorry for having to supply these details, old sport. With some luck another reader here who has a similar system will chime in with helpful information. However you should already be on the phone with ADT to insist that they solve the issue.
