Back in September my daughter picked up a smartphone through Verizon. After a few days she decided she could not afford it and returned it to where she had originally got it. After while she was receiving bills far in excess of her actual usage during the two days she had the phone. I advised her she did owe her actual usuage during that time, but not the large amounts Verizon was billing her for. She kept receiving bills for hundered of dollars and I still advised her not to pay them. While we were out of town a lady called my daughter and told her if she did not send Verizon $600 dollars they were going to take legal action. My daughter was scared enough she sent them the money. As of today we have not received back $379.71 of her money. Today is July 12th. I have called Verizon at least a dozen times and they admit the money is owed and can't seem to figure out a way to return it. Now they say where she got the phone owes the money. The local Verizon store says that is not true. What is amazing is that no one I spoke with denies the money is owed. We are about ready to call our local tv station which has a fraud program. They will take cameras into the Verizon store and ask why the money has not been refunded. My daughter is on disability so could use the money. We are at wits end trying to figure out a way to resolve this issue since Verizon doesn't seem to care. All we can do is try to get some attention and hope we will get what's owed to keep us quiet.
