I have subscribed to Gigabit intenet plan with verizon router (fios quantum gateway AC1750) purchased from them. Initially checked speed results from Verizon website and it came out around 950 Mbps and I was so happy :-)
But when i use laptop to connect work or watching any live steaming sites then speed was awful, so I decided to check speed results again in different websites and results are shocking. Verizon speeds are 10 Times more than other websites, all tests are with LAN connection in windows laptop.
1) http://speedtest.xfinity.com
Download 93.83 Mbps / Upload 108.81 Mbps
2) http://speedtest.googlefiber.net
Download 94.10 Mbps / Upload 98.40 Mbps
3) http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6536466791
Download 94.59 Mbps / Upload 95.28 Mbps
Download 95 Mbps
5) https://www.verizon.com/SpeedTest/routertest.aspx
Download 946.54Mbps / Upload 700.16Mbps
Yes the numbers are squed. Verizon's speedtest is a closed proprietary server. Not the usual ones that have direct connection issues such as congestion and slow downs and loss hops, unreachable sites and the assorted other issues wit true speed tests.
However Verizon only accepts their own numbers from their own server.
I have had the funny tech service call after I upped to gigabyte of having the guy tell me that "what am I complaining about? You had 15/1 with Time Warner Cable, and 150/150 with fios and now because it is 770/640 you complain"?
I pointed out I pay for 1024/1024 before limitations of the devices of 940/880 and not 50% less than that.
But fios engineer's did up my speed to around 920/770 so I am happy with the speed since I never use that much.

This is more of a netflix issue but I will try and get you going.
In the tv's wifi setting you need only change the wifi address to your new routers ssid from the new router. And use the new password.
The older router had a different ssid and password for the wifi. So it looks for it instead of your new router.
A work around is also to go into the routers settings and changed the SSID and password to the old SSID and password, from the new one that is being broadcast.
Good Luck

Here is a forum post that may interest you. Just a little information for you to think about.
Good Luck
I see you posted at DSLReports under a different name. And stated you were happy now and upgraded your review of fios.
Glad it all worked out
some new 1-2g capable ont+router box would not have mattered.
it's not good to falsely raise people's expectation here on next gen
as I intentinally got the old dumb layer-2 ont to maintain my privacy.
I have a 6 month old laptop and within the last several weeks if I am on Yahoo(my homepage) or facebook suddenly I see that everything has stopped. I look up to webaddress area and it says"yahoo is not responding" or "facebook is not responding"
What is this all about? Is it my internet connection? It even happens when I am wired.
I am not savvy about cocmputers, so it really frustrates me when I don't know what to do! Thank you for any help.

That was not the point of my post. It was something for you to look at.
Who knows when it woulld be available but it shows promise. And try and relax.
I have no idea what was installed at your apartment complex. In fact you would not really get much of a choice of ONT the installer provides. Its the luck of the draw.
My own install was an ancent ONT big and bulky but the installer said it was capable of gig service.
Personally I don't care who you are so your privacy is secure.

There can be different reasons for the issue. Ocassionally a web portal will stop resonding on its own. Other times the service at your home can have a burp. But will generally connect back quickly, internet congestion is another reason, and of course it can be site error.
the link above can tell you in the trace what the issues may be.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I had 300/300Mbps and was very happy. Then Verizon offered me Gigabit service for $70 less per month. How could I say no to that?
I immediately noticed sporadic performance from device to device (laptops, iPhones, iPads, etc.). The Verizon speed test sporadically shows 950/950 to the router but sometimes times out and fails altogether. The device test is absurd showing results in the 120Mbps range at times...and others timing out. You can visibily see the speed test take off then very long pauses, which pulls down the avg speed. And yes, many of the tests were run direct connected to the router wired via GigeE port on a couple of different laptops.
So I convinced Fios to roll a truck and a very nice tech came out and spent 4 hours at my house. His findings? Exactly the same as mine. He ran tests direct connected to the ONT and the tests were failing and showing 125Mbps. He saw the same sporadic performance with the router tests. He spent an hour or so on the phone with phone support (apparently not level II though...only his supervisor is allowed access to level II techs). He even had me reprovisioned back to 300/300 to see if that would get me back to where I was....it didn't. So he left me his cell and told me he'd have his supervisor escalate the matter because he could clearly see the problem, was able to replicate it, and felt bad that the performance was so bad.
That said, I never heard from his supervisor and he closed the ticket out. I ended up calling him and he did in fact get his boss to call me but his boss stuck to the party line - only the router test matters. No escalation. The ticket is closed as far as they are concerned.
So Verizon.....what gives? You broke my perfectly working 300/300 service, sent a tech out to find the performance to be exactly as I'm claiming (read: very poor) and are now digging in that your stupid router test proves that my service is just fine.
My two year contract just ended last week. I guess I need to speak the only language this company understands - canceling my service. I've had since they first rolled it out. When it works, I love it. When I have a problem, Verizon is an absolute nightmare to deal with.
Quantum Routers have WiFi problems?
I have a Verizon Fios G1100 Quantum Gateway Wireless Router (fios‑g1100 Daul)
and it keeps dropping the WiFi signal. I have to reboot the router frequently. Is anyone else having the problem? Also the WIFI speed is always poor.

Without a doubt Verizon Fios customer service is the WORST of any company in my 58 years living
Hari wrote:I have been trying to contact the customer service for the last two days. The website says 24/7 but it is a total lie. I waited on the line for more than 40 minutes on both these days. Cannot reach a human. Very very frustrating.
I recently changed to Verizon from Timewarner. That is the biggest mistake. Its just been two months now. First of all the wireless router/modem provided by Verizon is pathetic. Wireless connection is very very slow and it is a shock to me. My internet TV is not even able to stream for more than 10 minutes. I had no such problems when I had Timewarner. This is true and not a lie.
The only reason I shifted to Verizon, I added cable service and read that cable clarity is good in Verizon. But enough is enough. I cannot bear this non sense anymore.
Worthless Router/modem.
Worthless customer service.
When I want to order a new connection, a customer service agent speaks to me right away. But when we want to talk to someone on technical support, no one even picks the phone.
Now someone please tell me what is the procedure to disconnect from VERIZON.
you for real...if there is a contact number why don't you post it. You sound like a good verizon worker..I can't wait to get out of this verizon contract...they are nthe worst ever
In fact you would not really get much of a choice of ONT the installer provides. Its the luck of the draw.
a fact no longer in evidence. in 2017 verizon only uses the 1gig capable GPON ONT, not the ancient bpon 100mbps version, so new 50:50 installs no longer need fear having to "get lucky" and feel provoked into being upsold for expensive 1gig just to get a decent ont.
jon, please do us all a favor here and stop posting misleading outdated and irrelevant information. btw; forum unmasking is what trolls do when they have little else to contribute.
Let me explain something to you.
i post facts and always have.
you were not unmasked, if that was the case I would have posted your dsl reports name. However I did not.
and if you read anything at dsl reports that ont install has not been an absolute given. The only given is ethernet installation over a certain speed. If fios wishes to place an older ont in your home that is again their call. Not the customer.
Do me and others a big favor and stop posting inaccurate engineer requests and canceling the call before they arrive.
And like I said your ont choice will do absolutely nothing to give you privacy.
Anything inaccurate in my post please correct me. I don't like to post inaccurate information.
This thread you are replying to is 3 years old. Hopefully a moderator will lock it down.

You may want to call 1-800-VERIZON and have them replace it. Could be a bad router.
another thing you could do is get your own secondary router and either use that instead of the G1100 or use it in access point mode and just use the Quantum to get your dns and use your own router to assign ip addresses and for better wifi.
you could then turn off wifi on the quantum.
Good Luck
