Access Denied to medicare and medicaid sites

The last couple of days, I get the following message trying to access medicare.gov (and medicaid.gov (Reference # varies):

Access Denied

You don't have permission to access "http://www.medicare.gov/" on this server.

Reference #18.aeb8ca41.1537318099.2c1c890

This occurs both via my Windows 10 laptop using Chrome and Firefox (latest versions) and my Pixel XL using Chrome (latest version). I use Norton Security's firewall. As far as know, there have been no major updates on my system.

I have never had any problems accessing these sites. As far as I can determine, these are the only sites I cannot access.

The reason you will need 2 FNAs is the MOCA ports on Router and FNE are 2.0

So you need router>fna>fna>fne. To get the bonder 2.0 one FNA connects to router and the other will be in the other room before the FNE. otherwise the FNE will only get around 400 mbps.

Are you sure? I thought the network extender is bonded 2.0? It says it is on the features page under the LAN but then in other places it just says 2.0.

Gigabit Internet Only Getting 40 mbps hardwired, techs are stumped

Hi, even when hard wired directly from the ONT to a computer with a Gigabit LAN card, I am not achieving anywhere close to advertised speeds.  I've had two technicians already come to my apartment.  They've swapped out the ONT box, the router, the wiring, everything.  When testing on verizon's own speed test (the only one Verizon will accept), I am getting 44 down and 186 up right now, connected directly from the ONT box to my computer.  If I use the G1100 router, it is similar.  On WiFi, I am getting mid to upper 20s download, about 150 upload.  These numbers fluctuate throughout the day.  Sometimes the download (hard wired) can go up to about 200 or 250, and the upload occasionally reaches 800 or 900.  This is a wired connection using a Gigabit card.  I know the card works, because I had FIOS at my previous location and was getting speeds of 800+.

The technicians deny there is a problem.  Both of them claim that 200 or 250 is not bad and that I "won't notice any difference" between that and 1 Gig.  That's not the point.  First off, the download speed rarely reaches 200 or 250; most of the day, it hovers around 40.  Second of all, even if it spikes to 200-250 occasionally, that's still far below what I should be getting.  The phone techs at Verizon tech support agree it is an issue, but their only solution today was to send a third technician here.   Basically, they say the line is achieiving Gigabit speeds, as they can see from "their end."  I have no idea what that means, but it definitely isn't reaching my apartment, so they want to send a third tech.  I'm just sick of waiting at home for techs to come, spend 4 hours here, and ultimately tell me I'm crazy, that I should be happy with what I'm getting.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Brad

What they are saying from their servers to your ONT the gigabyte speed is reaching the box. Now from your router to the ONT is the problem. Is what they are saying.

the only wire? Is the twisted pair from your ONT to the WAN port on the VERIZON router. They do not troubleshoot any other routers.

My guess is the ethernet cable (twisted pair) connection is incorrect, a wire can be crimped, the ethernet cable is faulty, and barring that it could be the nic Card you are using. Yes they do go bad.

you could purchase a new factory made ethernet cable and go out and have the Verizon person plug directly into your ont and see if that works as it should.

if all else fails it’s not been provisioned properly or it’s overloaded with other customers using the gigabyte. Yes like cable internet the system can only handle x number of customers to achieve the proper speed.

That is the sites themselves.

go into your system and turn off that norton anything since it is like McAfee one of the worst programs to place on any device. Now also go into your browsers and clear all web browsing and cookies from “clear the cache”

restart the computer and turn that that anti virus junk off. Windows has their own antivirus and malware in windows defender, you must not use two or more such programs since they cause mucho problems.

Question about quantum gateway

I was wondering if the fios quantum gateway needs to be connected to a computer for the internet and wireless to work. I want to move the gateway to a better place in my home to get a better signal. Right now our desktop computer, which has wifi capability is connected to the gateway with an ethernet cable. If I move it to our living room, which is more open, will the wifi and Internet still work if not plugged into a computer?

Thanks

As long as the router is connected via ethernet or coaxial to the FiOS Quantum Gateway Router and the WiFi is active you will be able to receive WiFi to your devices.

having a computer hooked into one of the LAN ports is not required for service.

Non-Coax/MoCA Fios Network Extender Options

My coax is on the other side of the room from the quantum gateway.  I'd rather not have to do some crazy routing scheme or move the gateway so that I can use the WCB200Q network extender and MoCA network approach.  What other network extenders have people used?

Diagnosing packet loss outside gateway--what to do?

$

Hello, generally happy FiOS gigabit customer here from NYC. Recently, I've been experiencing some packet loss on the FiOS network and I'm not sure what to do? I've experienced the packet loss when directly connected to the ONT, with the Fios router, and with my own router. The packet loss is generally < 2% and affects all IP addresses outside my gateway. Tech support has been unable to help via phone as their diagnostics do not run long enough to detect the small and intermittent packet loss.

See the below diagnostic report from mtr which shows the packet loss to two different hosts.

This is not a standard FIOS battery backup.
This sounds like a UPS.

You can use your own router.
There is a thread at the top of this forum on how to use your own rotuer with FIOS TV.

Read through it.
If you are comfortable with the instructions, then go ahead and drop the router rental.

You can also purchase a verizon router instead of paying the rental.

Fios G1100 router cannot connect to Canon wireless printers

$

Verizon recently replaced an ailing fios quantum router with another fios quantum router.  Since the new router was put into service my two Canon printers fail to connect to the network on iPhone and Android.  Both printers have valid I.P. addresses and will connect to the network if the network is stopped and restarted.   The connection does not last very long after the restart.

When I search for a printer on my Android phone on the Canon Print app the I.P. address is blank but the MAC address appears and seems to be valid.  The search for a printer just causes my phone to clock with no connection.  I suspect the problem lies with the router since it was not a problem with the old quantum G1100.  Any help in resolving is appreciated.

FIOS Autopay: Misunderstanding or Intentional?

We registered with FIOS Internet 100/100 Mbps(only Internet, NO TV) in December of 2017. The service was great and we didn't have any problems with Internet or billing. In mid-August 2018, we moved to 1st floor from 3rd floor at the same address. I wanted to cancel the services on 3rd floor and start a new service on 1st floor with my account or my roommate's, because for moving I would have to pay extra and pay extra for the same plan. I called customer care and the representative and given the details, she said we could do the 300/300 Mbps (Only Internet, NO TV, So no contract) for $59.99 with Autopay discount and also the installation charges of $99 would be waived off since I was doing the order of service online (I was on a phone with representative while ordering online). I thought that was generous of Verizon. Great, I ordered it and we are using it. I posted other details on an earlier post. Link is here. So, I chatted with a representative a week ago and they said I would get the autopay discount in 1-2 billing cycles. I get email yesterday that $5 has been credited to your account. I don't get it. It is supposed to be $10. I called the customer care again today and she gave me something new. She said that the autopay did not go through while I was ordering my service. That is, when I ordered my service in December of 2017. That is ridiculous. I placed a new order  for my new apartment with autopay and everything, and the representative that I spoke to at that time confirmed me that the installation would be waived off and also the autopay discount will be awarded to me. I tried to explain this to the lady that I spoke today and she said there must have been a misunderstanding and that was not the case. Well I don't know what's the case. This is not how it's supposed to be. I was told confidently what I was being offered and now they are denying it. I don't know who else to speak to. Can somebody help me to resolve this?

That seems logical BUT...if the original I.P./MAC addresses were the route cause, why would the printers become connected on the iPhone and Android phones after the network Wi-Fi was re-started?  Once the network was restarted both printers become visible and can be used normally until you close out the app.  It would seem that if the I.P. and MAC addresses were faulty how could the printers be able to connect at all?

Forgot to add - One printer is on DHCP server the other on IP address and neither have any affect on the problem.  The old router had to be returned to Verizon and unable to compare settings.  I've changed both printers to different IP's and back to DHCP with no improvement.  They now remain as described above.  Thanks for your suggestions.

Not sure I understand.

How is router connected to ont?

Is it Ethernet?

Moca by definition runs over coax.

There is not a way to connect coax port of router to coax connection without a cable

This may be a long shot, but recently I had to install my mother in laws printers at her home (she has 3 of them) after I purchased another router/modem for her.

what must be done and I know it may sound silly is to run the installation program or cd to set the printers up as new. Now she has 1 canon and 2 HP all in ones around her home and it cured her loss of connection issues.

I will point out that I had to use not only the install cd or install program from the internet sites but the Setup cable as well.

but it fixed the issue. On set up you choose the method of access. I chose the network name and it setup perfectly.

Re: IPv6

If you really need IPv6, you can configure your router to use an IPv6 tunnel via Hurricane Electric. Some services are free. It works fine. However keep in mind some services like Netflix will treat it as a VPN service and block the service (IPv6 has higher priority than IPv4). It's not ideal. Verizon should disclaim that it does not offer full internet connectivity. Other providers like Comcast do offer native dual stack IPv4 and IPv6 to all customers.

To answer your question, Comcast does offer native dual-stack IPv4 and IPv6 to residential customers, at least in our area, our Comcast neighbors have IPv6, using Comcast X1 routers (Residential service).
