“Connection is not private”

When I try to access anything website on my pc it says that the connection is not private. I don’t know what happened it worked fine just a month ago and not only that I can’t access the internet overall through my computer. It seems to just be one computer with this problem and I’ve tried to fix through the internet but nothing helps. The only semi solution i have is by resetting the router and as soon as it is reseted turn on a vpn. After resetting my internet is fine for a solid 15 seconds and if I turn on my vpn it works. Any help please? I don’t know why it only affects this particular computer. I’ve tried with Ethernet/wireless both have the same problem.

Re: Router upstairs - but need ethernet in basement

Thanks for all your responses!  I did find a spare CAT 5 cable and connected one of my machines to the basement box and as it turns out - yes I have additional ethernet ports downstairs.  To answer the question about how the upstairs router is connected - it is the white cable in the photo connected to the WAN port - hence the term "Wide Area Network". All is good!  Stay safe!

any suggestions on magic words we can use to convince the service order rep of this?

Looks like a browser certificate error. Easiest thing to try would be to uninstall and reinstall the browser.

I should also have mentioned that I also have hard wired connections up to 2 bedrooms from the basement fios ONT.  I need to be hard wired for my job as I cannot rely on wifi.  So I can't use the option of taking the incoming ethernet cable and running it right into the google wifi router.  So I have a coax and ethernet connection from fios into the gateway router, from there i have 3 hard wired connections, one to main floor google wifi router, and 2 others up to bedrooms to connect laptops directly.  I have wifi turned off on the fios router but still experiencing issues.  Again, I've heard turn the fios router into a bridge or access point but i don't know how to do it.

The device in your picture is a G1100 Router.  It's WAN port should be connected to the ONT, not another router (unless your doing some advanced networking stuff and using a non-Verizon router as primary.)

You could have a less then optimal network setup.  Can you confirm what the upstairs device is?  Could it be a Verizon Network extender?  If you're not sure, post a picture.

Do you know which device is connected to the ONT and if it uses Ethernet or Coax WAN?

How do I know if a router is compatible with Verizon 200 Mbps? recommendation as far as any models?

I am planning on buying my own router but I can not find a way of knowing if the router will be compatible or not with the 200Mbps speed I have with Verizon. How do I know if the router will be compatible or not with Verizon. Thanks.

Any router by Netgear or Asus or TP Link Archer with Ax/AC/B/G/N etc. with external antennas for better wifi will be sufficient.

you need only release the IP address prior to removing the verizon router if you have one. If you don’t then it’s a easy setup process. Unless you have TV which requires a different set up. You can find the different configurations at

Having some issues setting this up.  Looking at my Network > Advanced > Full Details and noticed the "cable disconnected"

Verizon Fios DOES NOT have it's customer's backs!

I just moved to a new apartment (and am also new to New York). I know my timing is horrible, since we are dealing with COVID-19.

I moved to a building that is only wired for Verizon Fios (HUGE MISTAKE). The previous tenant in my apartment left their router and everything is hooked up. I immediately thought that this should be an easy transition considering everthing is already installed. Boy, was I wrong.

Verizon ran my credit twice and the customer service representative I have been working with has gone back and forth with telling me that there's nothing they can do, they're working on it, and I will be able to self-install soon. Literally everyday, she has a different answer.

So, I am here, alone, in my new apartment with no wifi, working off of my hotspot on my phone, and running out of data. Can anyone out there help?

to unblock devices, you have to go to the fios gateway by entering 192.168.1.1 in your browser (i'm assuming you have already done this to find out your device was blocked in the first place). Then go to the "My Network" section from the TOP MENU it should be between Wireless Settings and Firewall options. from there you should see a drop-down arrow to the right of each device, and one of the options should be to Unblock a device that has been blocked or block a device that is not blocked. if you dont see your device there click "show more" and scroll down.

They should be just plug and play. There is nothing to set up. Is all the coax wiring in your house connected on a splitter. It looks like the coax you are connecting to isn't live.

I honestly don't know.  I just moved in a month 1/2 ago and we generally stream all our content.  Was not having any luck with the existing wifi router and wanted to extend the signal using Moca, since that's what was available/recommended by Verizon.  Is there something that needs to be flipped on somewhere?  Sorry for sounding ignorant, I haven't used this type of extender before. Do I need to call Verizon?  I have a scheduled call with them tomorrow at 1pm.

It's ok. When you connect the coax to your G3100 router on the back there should be a MoCA LAN light. If that isn't on then it is likely the coax connected to the E3200 isn't connected wherever your coax originates from. This is different in all houses but will typically be located in a basement, utility room, or outside. Make sure all the coax is connected on a cable splitter.

Perhaps people would not be asking for a firmware update if your firmware release for the G3100 was not so buggy,  "Looks good to me"

Why would I go back to cable?  Its not the infrastructure that is the issue. Its Verizon's poor track record with there employees and cutting corners to save a buck with customer service.

Ill just config my own router and put this **bleep** in bridge mode, Had no issues with the Quantum.  Verizon has quality service I cannot deny that but I do not agree with some of there business practices.  But this firmware release is terrible, if it wasn't I wouldn't be combing the interweb to try to fix this garbage.

Id like to change the routers Hostname as well as the local domain for starters.

Widely variable gigabit speeds

I'm seeing wildly big variations on my upload/download speeds on my 1gigabit fits connection.  all wired connections straight to the ONT.  Using Verizon's test page.

For DLs, I'm getting 600, 300, 400, 600, 400; basically just run one after the other.  I have also tried several hours apart.

This is similar situation to this thread:

https://forums.verizon.com/t5/Fios-Internet/Any-speed-impact-from-Cov-19-on-internet-spped/td-p/893661

Is this still a problem?  Should have have pretty consistent speeds?
