There seems to be a debate of whether the ONT is MoCA 2.0 or 1.1, but whatever the version Verizon only does 100 mbps or below on MoCA. 150 and above requires ethernet. 100%, no exceptions. 

What you can do is run your cat6 and go to VZ direct at dslreports.com and have them switch your connection from MoCA to ethernet. 
Once switched you can upgrade to any speed you want to as long as you have a Nokia 211 or Arris 1000G. If you have an older Bpon model then a tech will have to come out an upgrade the ONT.

That is 100% incorrect. Verizon or any other service provider is not going to run wiring throughout the apartment when there is ethernet/coax in a panel at the ONT. If there is in-wall wiring at the panel then that’s what they will use.

The OP stated that they have gigabit only with no TV and ethernet running to the family room. They have two options. Run ethernet from the ONT to where they want the router. Or they can also keep the router where it is and use MoCA adapters. Ethernet is limited to 100 meters(328 feet). Unless you are living in a mansion, it will be very unlikely to go over that limit.

That depends on what is involved. If you are in an aerial environment with poles that will be potentially faster than if buried. 
If an engineer came out you still need the fiber ran and spliced. Could be a few weeks to a few months depending on what’s involved. 

My next door neighbor can get fios but i cant?

So for several years I have been checking and rechecking FIOS availability while my neighborhood is being built.   I watched as the Verizon trucks came in and laid conduit through peoples yards, causing quite a stir, and neighbors around me all getting hooked up for service.  Current, what appears to be 75%, of my neighborhood is hooked up for FIOS internet/TV but i'm still not able to get it.  The house right next door, 10" away, can get it.   I have done spot checking and it seems that only a line of houses in my hood can't get it.  I have conduit laid to the juncion box, installed it when the house was built, but still, no glass for FIOS.   What do I need to do to get someone to just look over my case and tell me why?  Doesn't make sense.

I have Verizon fios internet only.  I want to do a couple of things.  Have Verizon switch from their cable setup to enthernet .   I want to change from their router to my own router.  And finally, connect an Ethernet cable directly to my smart tv.  I have been researching, but am still confused on what to do.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I am not very tech wise.

True, MoCA  adapters would work too. Since they don't have TV (and therefore no set-top boxes [STBs] on the MoCA LAN frequencies), they would not even have to reprogram them. 

 

I am still wondering why there is already a coax connected to the router. Without STBs or a network extender, what is it doing? I suspect nothing. Maybe they had Verizon TV service at one time.

Ok.

 

I suspect that you are right. Firmware bug

 

In the meantime, while waiting for a fix - trying to find out more info about this router.

 

Does this router have another way of controlling it?

 

Like telnet or SSH.

It doesn't reply to Telnet or SSH.  

 

It responds to the Fios app.

First thing to do is physically run the ethernet wiring from the ONT to the router. You will then have to call Verizon to change your connection to ethernet from MoCA. You can also try VZ Direct at dslreports.com to help you.

Second you will have to connect your router in place the Verizon router. You will then connect the ethernet to the WAN port of your router. The TV will will connect to the LAN port. 

can't connect to work VPN

I recently upgraded Fios and now can not connect to my work server.  Work IT says it is a FIOS gateway problem.  Acting as my DNS at home, it should return NXDOMAIN so I can connect to work.  Agree? and is there a way to fix this?

Your right, they probably had TV service at one point. They might of had a MoCA WAN connection at one point as well.

Network extender does not pair

Got a network extender (black ). Set it up through a coaxial splitter.

 

identified router ssid and paired.

 

now I call in to buy it, was told I have to return and buy another one.

 

so finally ordered one and this piece (white) comes up alright but does not pair to the router :-(. 

I am supposed to return the black one (works) else will be charged rental.

 

i have already spent 4-5 hrs trying various options.

 

was on the phone waiting for tech support like 2 times for 45 mins no one showed up.

 

Verizon fios has never been so bad wit support . I was sold something that does not work and it’s on my time wasted here .

They sent you the wrong one. The white one is the FiOS Home Wifi Extender which is only compatible with the new FiOS Home Router.

You need the FiOS Network Extender  which is the black one that you already have. It's better to call Monday-Friday between 8a and 5p.


verizon speed test wont run

I have Verizon FIOS with 1nternet 100 mps/100mps with a new G3100 dual-band router. Running Windows 10 home. The last couple of days I try to run the test the page loads but the test won't run.  The dots keep flashing and that's it.  I've run speed tests on other sites and they show I'm getting my full speed.  I've rebooted the router and that doesn't change anything.  I was wondering if anyone has this problem and any suggestions to correct it?

Fios Extender and Router

I currently have a netgear extender.  I want to set up permissions on my Verizon router to basically turn off my children's internet at a certain time.  I can do this on every computer except the one that is connected to the netgear extender.  I've logged into the myfiosgateway and am unable to see the netgear extender or the computer that currently is connected to it.  Would i need to buy a Verizon extender? 

Cancel Pending LifeLink Internet Order

Hello:

 

On Thursday, January 23rd 10:00 am ET, I called Verizon as an approved LifeLink customer in MA. I wanted to set up basic internet. I was told I had to sign up for regular customer internet service and even click “Agree” to the texted contract before I would be emailed a Verizon LifeLink application. So I did. Was given a lengthy order number. The email didn’t arrive.

 

After over an hour on the phone trying to sort this out, I was finally told it was “in process” and to wait an hour and call back. I called back. Was finally sent Verizon LifeLink pdf application which would have to be printed, filled out by hand, and mailed back. Yes, in 2020. Anyway, the first line indicated I could either choose a mobile or internet LifeLink account not both. This immediately eliminated an internet account option. I called back Verizon at 12:00 pm ET to cancel the morning order. 

 

I then spent until 4:45 pm ET on the phone with Verizon talking to, on hold, “call back in an hour”, “give us 3 days to fix and then decline when the installers show up at your door”, “I’ll call you back”, “I’ll call you back tomorrow or Saturday, I promise”, “you can’t talk to a supervisor”, disconnection after wait 36 minutes, “your order can’t be cancelled as it’s in the back room, offline, no way for us to access”, etc. 

No one called back Friday or Saturday despite promises. All online app cancel directions lead to an obligatory phone call to 1-800-VERIZON. So at 2:00 am ET this morning I left an automated message to call me back at 8:00 am tomorrow. I am doubtful they’ll call. I simply want to cancel my order which is due to be installed Feb 27th. It is not acceptable to have to wait to “decline installation” to that moment. Any help appreciated. I am a longtime Xfinity customer who has never experienced such a nightmare of customer service. 

Fios TV One not working with own router

Hello, so I recently kinda replaced my fios gateway router with a Unifi USG, I have a cable running from my switch to my old fios gateway router's lan port in order to get wifi to a fios tv one mini downstairs, then from another lan port that goes out of the gateway I have a cable running to a gocoax moca 2.5 adapter in order to get ethernet to the basement & to my other fios tv one & fios tv one minis. However for some reason my main fios tv one box isn't getting any internet and my other fios tv one minis arent working cause they cannot detect the fios tv one box.  The main fios tv one box is popping up in my Unifi panel but it isn't assigning a ip to it & I do not see the main fios tv one box on the gateway router when I go to my network. Any idea how to fix this?
(The fios gateway has dhcp disabled and is on a different ip address then the main router)

FiOS accidentally disconnected my service early - can't fix it

I'm extremely upset and don't know what to do. I'm moving in 9 days, and placed an order for FIOS to transfer my service on Feb 3rd. They accidentally pulled the trigger early, and I'm without internet. After spending 5 hours on hold talking to 6 people (whenever I'd be placed on hold more than a few minutes it would kick me back to the main ivr queue), they said they can't fix it, they don't have an answer as to why they've shut it off, and that starting new service takes up to 3 days. This is unbelievable.
