Thank you so much for posting your problem and finding a solution! I had the same exact issue and needed to be hardwired for remote work and you are my hero! Verizon take note! I was on the phone with your tech for 30 minutes and not once was this solution offered or acknowledged! I have missed two important work classes because of this! Anyway, thank you again!

The FiOS Network Adapter which is Bonded MoCA 2.0 works with the G3100. The FiOS Network Extender WCB6200Q does not work with the G3100.

I saw on another post that someone has a wifi box working with their own router by going into the diagnostics.

To get in the screen turn the mini off by the button on top. As soon as you turn it off hit the OK button on the remote. It might take a few times. Once in a white screen will come up. Hit the back button and go to option 4 which is Network Configuration. In there you can supposedly manually connect it to a different wifi network.

Incredibly helpful! Thank you I’ll try it.

update: day 1 of having WiFi turned off on g1100 and running it solely off my google WiFi was amazing. Really fast speeds all day, no drop offs throughout the day. Hoping this solved the issue. Not sure why Verizon or google support didn’t suggest this in the first place.

getting less than 1mbs for days. Which is how long it takes to view a twitter post. Worse than 1996 Buad Dial up to AOL. **bleep**

Hi,

i will be moving in a brand new apartment. Verizon sale told me that it will be a complete fiber installation. As I want ot use my own router, does it mean I mean to have a router with SFP connectivity ? or they will install an ONT or something else to give me a RJ45 cable ?

They will run fiber into the apartment and connect to an ONT. The handoff will be ethernet to your router.

My home network was fine as I had 2 Netgear routers in bridge mode. For some reason, Verizon turns on SON and my entire network blew up. I did not want it turned on and after waiting on hold for over 60 minutes waiting for tech support and working with the useless on-line chat support...I now have to reset up my entire home network. Thanks Verizon for wasting half my day.

Yes, I'm having the same issue. Verizon is telling me that the lights should remain on. I have a network hub connected to the port. I was told that the router and hub maybe fighting for IP address. Everything seems to be working fine when plug in.

Question for you. I had same issues with lights on rear of router going out after about an hour. I have a network hub connected to it. I was told be Verizon Tech that the lights for coaxial and other lights should remain on. Like the other guy, I have no wifi issues. I can still connect, I am concern because of what the tech informed me. Should I be or they just don't know about the energy saving mode?

Your login and password are on a sticker on your router.

if you changed it and you know the original ones, you can reset it back to factory by holding the reset button in on the back of your router.

if this is not a verizon router, you must know the login and password that came for that personal router. Normally at the private vendors web site.

That Verizon tech needs to go back to tech school. A hub does not require an IP address, it simply repeats (broadcasts) the input on any one port to its other ports. A simple switch like a 4-port Netgear will not require an IP address either, but will route inbound traffic on a port to only one output (port).

I have similar issue at my house. The issue is the outside connection to external circuit

Verizon has an issue with some of these external boxes having poor weather proofing. When its warm moisture gets in (internet is fine when that happens, but when it gets cold, moisture freezes). Since its fiber optic the ice crystals interrupt the connection. The faster the connection you have the lower fault tolerance your ont in your house will accept. I would recommend making verizon replace / weather proof the public circuit your house connects to.

I am having the same issue. I can do port forwarding for RDP. It use to work before I upgraded to the G3100.

I have tried everything.

I have tested the port and its open but still cant RDP. I can do it inside the network but outside I cant. I use IP and my DDNS and still no luck.

I done it this way but still does not work..Keep in mind I used port 3389 not the one in the example. I got the photo from the internet. But its the same configuration but using port 3389 for both UDP and TCP.

I even did it for 3389 --> 3389 instead of TCP any and UDP any
